Expanding Collaboration with RemoteSpark 2.1

When RemoteSpark 2.0 was released in 2023, it was a complete game changer, flipping how we viewed mixed reality support on its head. With our newest release, we once again take a shift, and have intentionally focused on launching features that have been highly requested by you, our customers, and your dedicated teams. On top of the new feature set, we are also improving the RemoteSpark experience with some polishing and refinement updates. Our team has been hard at work over the past months, and we are excited to be able to announce the release of RemoteSpark 2.1! Let’s jump into what is new with 2.1.

New Features For RemoteSpark

Multi-Party Calling

One of the most standout and highly requested features in this release is the ability to invite secondary experts to a RemoteSpark session either through their PC app or Web Client (We’ll cover that just below). What this allows for is a mixed reality three-party conference call from the RemoteSpark application on your mixed reality device. An added benefit is that you will be able to connect with these different experts seamlessly in the same session. Need 4 different people at different stages of your task? Call two, hang up with the first, bring in the third, and so on, all without having to restart a call or session, just seamless collaboration from multiple parties.

Expert (PC) App Now on Web Browsers

We understand that diversification is important, and you’re not always by your Windows PC In fact, you might not even have a Window’s product at all! So, in order to ensure that all of our customers are supported on their mixed reality journey, RemoteSpark 2.1 brings the Expert App to anyone with an internet connection. With RemoteSpark Web Client, experts are able to make and receive calls to remote end-users on their mixed reality device from a desktop or mobile device, thus opening the door to all users. Through the new Web Client an expert user will have similar functionality to the PC App, but without the need to download an application locally from the Microsoft Store (or by sideload). To access the Web Client, users will now just have to navigate to the Web Client URL, enter your credentials, and start supporting end-users on the go, on any device.

3D Linked Content

There was a ton of intentional time and thought that drove the decision to roll out 3D Linked Content in this release. The addition of 3D content is a crucial element of any mixed reality strategy, and our goal has been to build a self-serve process to empower customers even further. Enter 3D Linked Content – with this release, we have enabled RemoteSpark end-users to pull up a 3D model and simultaneously have everything possibly related to that specific item all in one package.

With Linked Content end-users can pull up a static model, but this model will actually be embedded with links to additional content, such as PDFs, images, or even other 3D models. These links are all accessible by interacting with the model, allowing end users to seamlessly view related information and resources directly.

Panel Lock

Finally, the last new feature to highlight in RemoteSpark 2.1 is the Panel Lock. When you are in tight spaces, working on equipment, or even under vehicles having an accidental menu pop up can pull you from your work. The team once again set out to solve this issue, by introducing the Panel Lock you can now place your Palm Panel anywhere you want and it will stay there, clear of your space, but ready for action when required. Fun Fact: this feature was built off the back of product feedback from one of Kognitiv Spark’s customers earlier this year!

RemoteSpark Round Up

Clearly, as you have read the team here has been busy, by bringing these enhancements to the platform we are confident that end-users will not only have more ways to consume information through Linked Content but also feel better connected and supported with having access to multiple experts at once to guide them through their tasks. Of course, tying this all together is the increased accessibility for experts in having the ability to go mobile now, ensuring that every task is properly supported regardless of location on either end of the connection now.

Feedback and Support

We value your feedback and it allows our team to develop that features most important to you! If you encounter any issues or have suggestions for improvements, please contact our customer success team at customercare@kognitivspark.com or reach out to your dedicated Account Manager.
