In an age in which many businesses rely on advanced engineering systems, the introduction of additional support infrastructure, which at first glance can appear to add complexity, can be met with a significant degree of skepticism by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and customers alike.

Early on in Kognitiv Spark’s history, we decided to build our own 3D rendering engine. This decision was made to avoid using off-the-shelf authoring environments designed for video game creation rather than secure applications for businesses, especially organizations in high-security sectors.

On Sunday, February 24th at the Mobile World Congress press event in Barcelona, Microsoft HoloLens creator Alex Kipman announced the next generation of head-mounted Mixed Reality computing hardware.

Since first shipped in March of 2016, the 1st edition HoloLens has remained the global leader for mixed reality hardware for enterprise.

Today, Kognitiv Spark announces a partnership with LOOKNorth to use RemoteSpark, their Augmented Reality (AR) and Mixed Reality (MR) worker support software, to improve maintenance for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in remote northern communities in Canada.

It’s no secret that augmented and mixed reality are poised to revolutionize many industrial sectors, including manufacturing, oil and gas, the energy industry, agriculture, and defence, and aerospace.

We knew from the beginning when building RemoteSpark there would be customers that would require an on-premise solution either due to disconnected/remote requirements or data governance policies. This meant we had to balance the features we used in the Azure Cloud vs what Azure services are available in Azure Stack.

We believe that technology if used right, can not only allow front-line workers to stay relevant but will make them more critical than ever before.

After a strong burst of building from our development team, we successfully launched version 1.0 of RemoteSpark on June 29th, 2018. This was a major milestone for us and meant we were able to deliver a fully-functioning software application to our clients that we are proud of – with all the key features that set us apart on the mixed reality stage.
